How do I punish myself for ruining this girls life?

had the perfect opportunity to ask out this truly amazing girl. The feeling was definitely mutual. But because I never had the spine to do so, she is now a teen mom with a down right s bag as the father who took flight across the country when he found out she was pregnant. If I had done what I should have then, this could have all been avoided. I now realize that she was obviously trashy in the first place . About a year ago, I met a fine lady that seemed to have held some interest in me. I froze, and since then she has gotten involved with a creep and has had a family meltdown, removing herself from contact with her parents. Since then, I've never allowed myself to get into a relationship due to that. I guess what it boils down to is personal failure. What punishment is fitting for me?
