I agree with what you said. I saw the article today and the "ex post facto" clause popped in my head right away. All of the marriages that took place following the CA Supreme Court ruling were legal contracts recognized by CA law at the time. Annulling them IS unconstitutional but I won't be the least bit surprised to see the courts piss all over the Constitution in this case.
