How do you get married? How do you get a marriage license?

When you get married @ a church does the pastor have to do anything like sign a marriage license or something? My boyfriend & I wanna get married @ the courthouse then when we have the money have a church wedding, but it's my home church, so I wouldn't want anyone to know we had already gotten married.
