What will happen if Hawaii declares independence and joins Japan?

What will happen if Hawaii decides to move from the United states and Join Japan... After all many of the natives there have Japanese ancestry.. Will the US retaliate by bombing Japan again or will the just let it slide.. Or fear that Japan might be in range (nearer if the wanted to attack)... if the obtain Hawaii..
